Start the period with a clear measurement plan

Review the business decisions your question set supports. Keep useful questions stable and version those that must change. Confirm the business, competitors, market, language, source scope and reporting dates. Calculate the month’s expected searches before enabling schedules, including months with five weekly runs.

Choose the smallest allowance that supports the work you expect to do. A Professional plan can support 20 questions measured four times in one market with room for 20 additional searches. An agency portfolio needs the same arithmetic across clients. Monthly credits reset without rollover, so avoid relying on accumulated unused monthly balances.

Review evidence, then choose work

Read the latest sample and compare only compatible observations. Ask whether a finding changes a decision. A newly cited source may justify a page review; unchanged evidence may support continuing existing work. Inspect the original answer before creating a task, especially when a summary depends on one passage or a small sample.

Select a manageable set of actions. Each needs the affected page, exact evidence, owner, due date and acceptance test. Keep measured site problems, observed answer claims and hypotheses in separate fields. A hypothesis is a valid next experiment when it is labelled honestly.

Publish and verify the work

Use Content and action briefs to prepare the material, but verify facts before publication. Keep the customer’s approval and CMS process. Record when the change becomes visible at the live URL. A draft, exported publishing bundle and deployed page are different milestones.

Verify the exact acceptance test. If the action was to correct a price, confirm the live text and supporting source. If it was to fix a crawler rule, confirm the public rule and affected path. Do not spend another search credit until the new measurement can answer a meaningful question.

Remeasure without moving the goalposts

Repeat the saved scope at the planned time. Preserve unavailable answers and source changes. If the question wording or source set changes, explain the new baseline. A later difference can be associated with the period, but should not automatically be attributed to your edit.

Use supplied analytics or logs when the question concerns visits, conversions or crawler activity. Keep their windows and units separate from the answer sample. An outcome that cannot be measured should stay unmeasured in the report.

Deliver a report that supports next month’s decision

  1. Summarise the question set, sources, dates and usable-answer count.
  2. Explain the important findings with supporting evidence.
  3. List the work completed and the live verification.
  4. Show comparable later observations and unresolved uncertainty.
  5. Assign the next actions and agree the next question set.
  6. Confirm the next period’s search allowance and reporting schedule.

Make repeat use useful

A recurring programme earns renewal when it helps the team decide what to investigate, publish or maintain. It does not need a positive chart every month. Report unchanged results honestly, preserve successful work and use the next period to resolve the most important uncertainty. The strongest client relationship comes from a clear evidence trail and completed work.

Your next step

Save a monthly report view and a search budget, then assign the first evidence-backed action.
